Students are doing an awesome job at making their book report projects. Students are collaborating, helping and communicating their ideas.
We are running as a pack this week as we continue to learn about wolves. Students made wolf masks and wolves this week. Today, we played a wolf quest game. Some students were predators and some were prey. This was fun and focused on understanding populations and ecosystems.
Students got to see the Monarch caterpillar come out of its chrysalis and then release it outside. The first Monarch was very quick but the second one liked to sit on my finger.
In Red Clover today, we learned about otters. All 1/2 students created a Venn diagram that compared children and otters. Students drew pictures and used written expression to demonstrate their understanding. This morning we went to Mrs. Colby's room to experience 3D Printing. The students were very excited. They got to see some designs that had been printed and see the printer in action. A 3D Printer melts plastic and slowly builds 3D objects in layers. It is almost like slowly building a multi-tiered cake. It is important to me that students are exposed to situations that open their minds to what is impossible and that they can be part of it.
Students began the process of building by thinking about what they would design. They then gathered materials and began making. The last step every day was to think about how they could improve it. It was exciting to see their designs come to life and their excitement to share it with their friends.
